About Jerry Chiemeke
Jerry Chiemeke is a writer, communications specialist, film critic, journalist, and lawyer. His writing has appeared in Die Welt, The I Paper, The Africa Report, Berlinale Press, The Johannesburg Review of Books, Kissing Dynamite Poetry, Culture Custodian, Afrocritik, Brittlepaper, and elsewhere. He has been selected for several international film festivals including Sundance, Berlinale, Blackstar Film Festival, and Durban International Film Festival.
Chiemeke lives in London, where he writes about Nollywood, African literature, and Nigerian music. He is the author of the short story collection “Dreaming of Ways to Understand You”, the hybrid collection “The Colours In These Leaves”, and the poetry chapbook “Notes for Nnedimma.” Chiemeke is the winner of the 2017 Ken Saro Wiwa Prize, and a recipient of the 2019 Connect Nigeria Award for Excellence. His work has been nominated for the Diana Woods Memorial Award in Creative Nonfiction, Best Small Fictions, and the Quramo Writers Prize.
